I started writing fiction after I became a lawyer. At the time, states were toying with what they called plain English laws. If passed, these laws would have required all legal documents to be written in simple English. I figured writing fiction would be a good way to improve my writing skills as a lawyer.

While these plain English laws were never passed, I discovered that I enjoyed writing fiction. I originally wrote screenplays, mostly romantic comedies. Eventually, I switched to novels. Most of my novels are in the fantasy genre, but I will occasionally return to my roots and write a romantic comedy.
